Manager, Corporate Partnerships (Regular Full-Time)

The Manager, Corporate Partnerships oversees all aspects of the corporate membership program, including the procurement, cultivation and stewarding of corporate donors at various membership levels ranging from $5,000 to $50,000. Annual Giving

The Associate, Individual Giving is responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of $1,000+ annual gifts and/or membership dues from a portfolio of annual donors and prospects, as well as donor stewardship within their assigned Annual Giving groups. Kinetic Sculpture Technician (Regular Part-Time)
Conservation Center

The Kinetic Sculpture Technician operates and oversees upkeep of kinetic sculpture “Metropolis II” by Chris Burden, currently on view. The Technician is responsible for operating the sculpture on a set schedule during museum operating hours. During maintenance times, the Technician will work with the team to repair components of the artwork, including miniature cars, trains, and buildings, using protocols developed by the Conservation Metropolis II team. The Technician cleans and dusts the sculpture as part of the maintenance protocol. Due to the nature of the position, the Technician will at times be photographed and/or video-recorded while operating the artwork.


  • Oversees mechanical components of the conveyor system, cars, and trains while the sculpture is running

Gift Analyst (Regular Full-Time)
Strategic Development Services

The Gift Analyst assists with gift recording and data management in Tessitura. As part of the Data Management team, this team member is experienced in entering all types of gifts, ranging from major gifts to simple gifts; knowing how to code according to complexity. They need to be flexible to handle the fluctuation in workload, while meeting batch processing deadlines. They are responsible for guiding/training the Jr. Gift Analyst and can be trusted as an expert to answer gift-related questions from the Development and other teams.


  • Creates batches from daily Membership sales reports for Onsite and Web in Tessitura
  • Processes and reviews gifts, via batch entry; ensures that appropriate appeal, fund and campaign codes for tracking and acknowledgement purposes are complete and accurate

Coordinator (Regular Full-Time)

The Development Coordinator provides support and coordinates projects as assigned by the AVP of Gift Planning and the Manager of Donor Relations and Stewardship. Projects generally include coordinating stewardship projects, creating acknowledgements, creating timelines for project management and impact reporting, assisting with the creation of proposals, communications, and solicitation materials, and updating the Tessitura database with constituent information, plans, steps, commitments, and relevant notes. Assistant Collections Manager for Japanese Art (Temporary Full-Time)
Collections Management

The Assistant Collections Manager for Japanese Art is responsible for a wide variety of duties related to the care of the collection, both onsite at LACMA as well as at offsite storage.  Duties include inventory, research, storage, and access of LACMA’s 7,700+ Japanese Art object collection.  The collection is expected to grow by several hundred objects as LACMA prepares for the opening of the David Geffen Galleries and reopens the Pavilion for Japanese Art to the public.  The Assistant Collections Manager will be trained by Collections Management, Curatorial, Conservation, and Collection Information and Digital Assets staff in order to meet LACMA’s standards for handling, housing, and documenting Japanese collections.  The Assistant Collections Manager will be expected to proactively collaborate with the Curator of Japanese Art and when necessary, source community members, to ensure accurate and robust cataloging of the collection in the museum’s database (TMS), preferably in both English and Japanese.  Accuracy of this information will allow Curatorial to make the collection globally public through LACMA’s Collections Online platform as well as future exhibition and loan programming.  


  • Facilitate access to the Japanese Art collection.

  • Inventory, house, and incorporate into the larger collection all new Japanese Art acquisitions according to LACMA’s standards and, if needed, research and implement preferential care standards per the Japanese community.

  • Establish collection organization with minimal guidance.

  • Collaborate with the Curator of Japanese Art to ensure accurate and robust cataloging in TMS of all acquisitions, including proper titling and artist biographical information, preferably in both English and Japanese.

The Andrew W. Tessitura Manager (Regular Full-Time)

Working across all user teams including Development, Membership, Visitor Services, Education & Public Programs, Finance, Web, Information Systems, and museum consultants, the Tessitura Manager provides general oversight of Tessitura, the museum’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and integrated systems. The Tessitura Manager ensures that the system effectively scales and supports day to day work across business functions, leads system upgrades, and project manages and provides support and direction on platforms that integrate or share data with Tessitura, including WordFly, DonorSearch,, and Zkipster. The Tessitura Manager proficiently understands these applications, their strengths and weaknesses, how they impact and interact with each other, and how they may be leveraged to best support the growth of audience, fundraising and membership through positive cooperation with key museum stakeholders. The Tessitura Manager leads user onboarding, and acts as a sounding board for system improvements led by power users and colleagues within the Strategic Services team and user teams. The Tessitura Manager co-develops the Tessitura roadmap in partnership with the Assistant Vice President, Strategic Development services and in consultation with department heads who leverage system data to grow audience and income and carry out day-to-day work. The Tessitura Manager leads or consults on all system and data implementations, integrations, and improvements.


  • Partners with the Assistant Vice President, Strategic Development Services to establish and evolve the long-term roadmap for Tessitura use and expansion across user teams and business functions.

Curatorial Assistant (Temporary Full-Time)

Under the supervision of the Curator and Head of Chinese Art, the The Mozhai Foundation Curatorial Assistant is a motivated administrator with a strong attention to detail and a familiarity with the fine arts. This role is a full-time, temporary position, with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis. The main function of the Curatorial Assistant is the administrative support of the division head and the curatorial team as a whole. Chemical Hygiene Officer (Regular Full-Time)
Conservation Center

LACMA – Museum Associates seeks an early career professional who is highly motivated to join the Conservation Center as the Chemical Hygiene Officer. The Conservation Center’s Chemical Hygiene Officer will oversee the Conservation Center compliance with LACMA Safety Plans (e.g. Hazard Communication, Chemical Hygiene, Respiratory Protection, Radiation Safety), and coordinates emergency response with Facilities and Conservation. They will be responsible for oversight of state and federal regulations regarding safe use, storage and disposal of chemicals generated by LACMA and other Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) mandated safe laboratory practices.  If qualified according to Title 17 California Code of Regulations (CCR) 30336.7.  


  • Develops, implements, and manages laboratory related safety programs to meet regulatory requirements and address safety related needs in the Conservation Center laboratories, including chemical safety, radiation safety and respiratory protection
  • Advise Conservation staff, interns, fellows, and volunteers on proper laboratory safety procedures for handling, use, storage and disposal of chemicals and the use of radiation sources.
  • Devise and oversee use of the annual Chemical Hygiene budget for the Conservation Center.
  • Maintain Conservation chemical inventories, SDS, and all other Conservation Center safety related records mandated by OSHA and Cal/OSHA.
  • Order safety-related laboratory supplies and review Conservation Center orders of hazardous chemicals.
  • Conduct introductory safety sessions for new staff and periodic review sessions as required by OSHA to update staff awareness of current safe laboratory practices and government regulations.
  • Performs and develops quantitative and qualitative respirator fit testing, training, and education (per OSHA 29CFR1910.134) for Conservation staff and records all fit test and medical clearance records to assure adequate record keeping.
  • Schedule calibration of monitoring equipment, inspections (and licensing reviews) by outside safety inspectors, as well as chemical waste disposal by outside contractors.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Hygiene & Safety, or environmental safety, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with hazardous chemicals is required. 
  • Attendance at seminars and workshops, which reviewed and provided updated information. Government regulations regarding hazardous materials and radiation safety are preferred.

Visitor Services Associate (Temporary Part-Time)
Visitor Services

The Visitor Services Associate is responsible for providing outstanding visitor service while working front-of-house posts at the Ticket Office or in the museum. The position processes and sells museum admission, special programming tickets, LACMA membership, and LACMA Fund donations. The Associate position also provides outstanding visitor service while working within select exhibition spaces ensuring that museum policies and procedures are upheld and sharing important information pertaining to specific works of art. The Associate consistently presents a positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic attitude at all times while working with a variety of LACMA constituencies including the general public, members, donors, VIPs, and staff.   


  • Actively demonstrates a guest-first attitude by exemplifying excellent internal and external guest service skills at all times

  • Actively promotes, sells, and services the LACMA membership program

  • Maintains a conversational knowledge of LACMA’s general policies and procedures, membership programs, and the exhibition and programming schedule

Communications Associate (Regular Full-Time)

The Communications Associate assists with the development and execution of all of the Museum’s media efforts. The Communications Associate implements communication campaigns and strategy, particularly for major exhibitions, public programs, and special projects and initiatives. 


  • Develops comprehensive communications plan and press kit contents for select exhibitions, which includes researching and drafting appropriate materials for the Museum, special exhibitions, and initiatives, as well as other institutional announcements.
  • Implements editorial and messaging strategy for exhibition communications assigned to them.
  • Supports permanent collection activities, museum programming, and special projects. This includes creating/updating general press materials for museum, overseeing press presence at events, and coordinating logistics with various departments.
  • Garners national and international media coverage for the Museum in print, electronic, broadcast, and online media and documenting outreach, tracking, and measurement reports.
  • Manages selected exhibition and institutional priority press previews and events, including overseeing logistics, collaborating with event photographers, liaising with external PR affiliates (when appropriate), exhibition sponsors, coordinating interviews with media and Museum staff, securing electronic media presence, and supervising the overall flow of events.
  • Oversee exhibition and event assignment in accord with the Associate Director of Communications.
  • Departmental point person for contracted photographers and syndication services; oversee contracts and relationship with external freelance event photographers; work with photographer and relevant museum staff for photo IDs, when necessary.
  • Responsible for updating all evergreen departmental documents and the Advance Exhibitions Schedule (AES).
  • Responds to press inquiries in a timely manner; coordinates interviews; writes correspondence; sends communications materials; distributes images as requested; point person for departmental press inbox.

Andrew W. Mellon Interdisciplinary Fellow (Regular Full-Time)
Conservation Center

LACMA is looking for an Andrew W. Mellon Interdisciplinary Fellow. This position is an objects conservator with a research focus on the Art of the Ancient America. The Andrew W. Mellon Interdisciplinary Fellow will liaise between two departments, working with conservators and curators to appropriately examine, document and treat objects both onsite and offsite. This position splits between treatment work in the Objects lab and a research project with Arts of the Ancient Americas.  Any new findings are to be published and presented within the field.


  • Performs treatments on a variety of media from the Museums’ permanent collection
  • Examines works of art to determine condition and need for treatment, collaborating with paintings, objects, paper, and textiles conservators
  • Writes and reviews condition reports for works of art for exhibitions, outgoing loans, and new acquisitions.
  • Provides advisement on environmental conditions for works of art in storage, in transit, and on display
  • Conducts research as necessary to determine appropriate treatments.
  • Performs pertinent treatment on works of art and accessories with a focus on preventive conservation.
  • Uses digital tools and databases to organize and update information in databases, including but not limited to condition reports and photographs.
  • Collaborates within the Conservation Center and Museum staff on various levels as it pertains to works of art and preservation.
  • Works with conservation and curatorial teams to apply technical analysis, observations, and art historical research to authenticate and better understand the dating, location of origin, functions, and artistic traditions behind certain ancient American ceramic objects.
  • At supervisor’s request, coordinates with other departments and remains informed on loans, transit of art, exhibitions, and permanent collection loans, keeping supervisor informed.

  • Administrative Support: provides general administrative support to the Exhibition Programs and Curatorial Administration Departments, which may include the following tasks as assigned by Deputy Director for Curatorial & Planning, Head of Exhibition Coordination, Exhibition Coordinator, Program Exhibition Coordinator, Associate Director of Exhibition Design and Production, Senior Exhibition Designer, Manager of Gallery Construction, Manager of Gallery Media, and Manager of Academic Programs: phones, mail and FedEx, filing, travel planning and expense submission, purchasing office supplies, and scheduling meetings.
  • Geffen Galleries Support: Schedule all Geffen Gallery related planning meetings as assigned by the Head of Exhibition Coordination, Associate Director of Exhibition Design and Production, Exhibition Coordinator, Program Exhibition Coordinator. Continually update Geffen Gallery production schedules. Collect, track, and distribute checklists to the broader planning team.
  • Financial Analysis: Assists Senior Financial & Exhibitions Budget Analyst with development of budget planning materials for Curatorial Departments. Inputs Curatorial and budgets into LACMA’s Budget System. Develops “ballpark” budgets with the guidance of the Head of Exhibition Coordination and Exhibition Coordinator. Creates Gallery Construction Invoice Requests, adds all Exhibition Programs Invoice Requests to the Curatorial & Planning General Ledger and distributes for review, reviews and approves Curatorial Invoice Requests.
  • Travel Pool coordinator: Receives, circulates for approvals, and tracks requests for use of Curatorial Programs Travel Funds.
  • Curatorial Administration: Serves as the main point of administrative contact for Curatorial Administration. Manages budget, organizes catering, drafts and distributes notes for division-wide Curatorial meeting and Curatorial Department Heads meeting.


  • Undergraduate degree in Art History, Business, or Accounting. Demonstrated ability to build rapport and work diplomatically and effectively with the public and represent executives in a professional manner to others both inside and outside of the organization. Previous museum experience in an administrative role is useful but not required.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of a second language other than English (Spanish, Chinese, or Korean) is useful but not required. Ability to speak effectively with people at different levels both within and outside of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Familiarity and comfort with Excel software.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Gallery Lighting Technician (Regular, Full-Time)
Exhibition Design & Production

Working in the museum’s art environments and gallery spaces, the Gallery Lighting Technician supports the museum’s exhibition program through the installation, maintenance, and alteration of gallery lighting fixtures and other electrical equipment. Reporting to the Manager of Gallery Construction, this position is a critical member of LACMA’s construction staff and supports the Exhibitions program at the museum.  


  • Working in coordination with the Exhibition Design and Production team to meet exhibition requirements and deadlines. 
  • Programs gallery lighting via museum’s lighting control system. 
  • Assembles, installs, troubleshoots, tests, and maintains light fixtures and electrical devices. - Performs skilled professional work in the installation, maintenance and repair of wiring, breakers, electrical appliances, branch circuits, switchboards, outlets, timers, etc. - Uses standard and specialized electrical devices or equipment such as voltmeter, amp meter, ohmmeter, megohm meter, light meter, and other electrical hand tools. 
  • Repairs and maintains gallery electrical fixtures and equipment, including power adapters,
  • ballasts, transformers, and LED components. 
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working condition. 
  • Working closely with our Facilities department to adhere to architectural, electrical and fire codes. - Maintains and follows proper safety procedures. 
  • Maintains records of work performed and prepares reports as required. 
  • May supervise apprentices or helpers.  


  • California DIR Electrical Certification (required) 
  • Knowledge of current LED technologies and strategies. 
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and electrical drawings. 
  • Keen color perception

Volunteering is a unique form of philanthropy: a gift of unrestricted time and expertise to the museum. Volunteering provides a means for members to bond over shared artistic passions, and participate in group tours, lectures, receptions and travel. There are a number of ways to give of your time to help LACMA. 

Museum Service Council

The Museum Service Council provides support to museum administrative staff, curators, and educational and family programs. Our volunteers work in the libraries, the Welcome Center, and the Boone Children's Gallery, help staff Family Day activities, act as hosts for special events, and assist in the museum stores. As a benefit, council members receive special invitations to private exhibition tours, activities and lectures with eminent curators. 

The volunteer selection and training process occurs as needed, usually once per year. Stay tuned to this page for updates.

Docent Council

Members of the Docent Council engage with visitors of all ages through guided tours and casual dialogue to make works of art accessible for all. We are committed to inclusivity, access, and equity, and we believe that the Docent Council should represent the diversity of Los Angeles.

An art background is not required in order to be a docent. Prospective docents should have an interest in learning about art, working with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, and facilitating positive museum experiences. In addition to working with visitors, docents enjoy an extensive program of continuing education provided by staff members and local experts. Members of the Docent Council perform a unique form of philanthropy by donating their time in a way that supports LACMA and the visitors it serves.
